Well if you didn't make it up here for the Galena Grinder/Whit Henry Memorial Mountain Bike Race last weekend you missed out. 150 rides braved the strenuous course and raced anywhere from 4.5 miles (Trailblazers) to 45 miles (Marathon). I choose to do something right in the middle and race the 17.5 mile Sport Class. It was a blast. Now of course it is hard, but what race isn't hard. You push yourself and test your limits and hopefully in the end all you remember is the smile on your face coming downhill through a field of flowers. I encourage all levels to come out and ride at Galena (either for fun or in a race) as we all know it is pretty special up here. For the race results check out www.knobbytireseries.com.
A big THANK YOU to Marc Driver and all his time and passion in putting on this race and to all the Volunteer, Donors, Cheerleaders and Racers we couldn't have done it without you. Also, a heart felt Thanks to Gail Henry and family for everything that they do!
Don't miss out on our Summer Dinner Saturday August 15 at 6:30pm. Enjoy appetizers out on the deck and then head into the beautiful Galena Lodge for a 3 course dinner featuring the local foods of Southern Idaho prepared to perfection by Don Shepler and his very talented crew (Todd Dameron, Raul Pantoja, Matt Welsch, and Matthias O.). Reservations are requested as seating is limited. Cost for the dinner is $40 (does not include drinks, tax or tip).
