Celebrate Winter and the Solstice

Winter Solstice is today and so the longest night of the year is upon us. Why not celebrate the upcoming longer days by coming up to Galena Lodge. We received 2 inches of new snow last night and the trails are being groomed as I speak. The skiing and snowshoeing is great.

Galena Lodge is offering Nordic ski lessons everyday as well as private and group snowshoe tours. If you are new to Nordic skiing you might not know how important a lesson can be to your success. From balance to weight transfer, poling techniques to edging, a lesson can help you start enjoying Nordic skiing from the very first time. Call or email us to make an appointment.

Free Learn to Ski Day and Santa's Visit to Galena

Santa Claus is coming to Galena Lodge this Saturday, December 19 at Noon for photos and holiday cheer. Get the kids and the family together and head up to the lodge for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, great food and a visit with Santa! Santa will be at Galena until 2 p.m. so get here early and don't forget your camera!

Sunday, December 20 is Free Learn to Ski Day. Free group lessons, free rentals for the lessons, and no trail pass needed! Now that is a bargain. Classic ski lessons will be offered at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and Skate ski lessons will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Get yourself signed up for a free lesson and rentals. This is a great way to get your skiing off to the right start.

Don't forget about Tuesday and Thursday Lunchtime Ski Clinics at the SNRA at Noon and Wednesday Workouts at Galena on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m.

Ski Clinics Will Begin Tomorrow!

Join the Galena ski instructors every Tuesday and Thursday at the SNRA for a skate ski clinic at noon. The first one will be held tomorrow, December 8, and is free! After that, the cost will be $20 per session, or 6 for $100. These clinics will focus on skate ski technique, efficiency, transitions, and fitness - plus they might just get you out of work for a while.

Also, every Wednesday at Galena Lodge from 3:30-5:00 is our "Wednesday Workouts" which began last week. The cost is also $20 per session and the theme of each workout will progress throughout the season. Call to let us know you are coming (726-4010) or just show up!

New Ski Trails Open at Galena Lodge!

Horse Creek ski trail is now open and Cherry Ridge is currently being worked on, to open soon! The skiing remains excellent on the Harriman Trail, North Wood Trail, and Jenny's Way. It's worth the extra drive up from Prairie Creek for some early season variety.

It's also a great time to come up for ski lessons - before the holiday rush and to start the season off right! Call to schedule a group or private lesson (208-726-4010) or plan on joining one of our daily scheduled lessons at 11:30 am and 1:00 pm.
