Full Moon!

The January full wolf moon is out above clear skies and perfect corduroy. We are being blessed by cold nights and warm days for great skiing conditions. This weekend we are offering full moon dinners - friday and saturday evenings have filled, but we still have plenty of room for Sunday night. Sun Valley Nordic Festival and Full Moon Dinners

If you haven't heard about the Sun Valley Nordic Festival you will now. Beginning this Saturday Sun Valley and Ketchum have put together one of the best Nordic festivals in the country. There are ski tours, snowshoe tours, Full Moon dinners, ski races, music and more! Check out this link for a full list of events during the festival.

Galena Lodge is hosting our last Ski the Boulder Day this Sunday January 31st at 9am. Ski the Boulder race course with instruction, aid station and shuttle service back to the lodge for only $30/person. This is a great time for all abilities. Call now to sign up.

Full Moon Dinners at this Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Enjoy a snowshoe or ski under the Full Moon as well as an incredible dinner at Galena Lodge. Dinner begins at 6:30pm. Space is limited so call to make a reservation. Cost is $40/person (does not include alcohol, tax or gratuity).

Winter Storm Means Great Skiing and Snowshoeing

Whether you are a Nordic skier, backcountry skier or snowshoer new snow means great skiing around Galena. In the past 4 days we have received around a foot and a half of new powder. The trails are freshened up, groomed and waiting for you! The snowshoe trails are in great condition right now with a little new snow on the maintained trails. Now the backcountry skiing is a little more challenging. A good knowledge of the terrain, snowpack and safety are a must out there right now but there is some amazing snow to be had.

Don't forget this Saturday, January 23 is our Women's Only Skate Ski Clinic from 11am to 4pm. This clinic is designed for all abilities and is set in a supportive group environment on the trails around Galena. Cost is $55/person ($60 if you need to rent gear) and includes your day of instruction and lunch. Call now to reserve a spot!

The Galena and the Trails Winter Benefit

Join the Nordic Ski community on Saturday January 16th for the 14th Annual Galena and the Trails Benefit. Mark your calendars, call your friends and get a babysitter because this is the one benefit that you need to come to. Galena and the Trails (including Galena Lodge, Harriman, Prairie Creek, and Quigley Nordic) need your support. No tax dollars go to support these trails or the upkeep of Galena Lodge. New snow to ring in the New Year!

Well with about 4 inches of new snow so far today and it still snowing, we are happy to ring in the New Year with Powder! The trails are freshened up, the grooming is done, the cookies are in the oven and Don is out plowing the parking lot. Today is a great day to grab those snowshoes and hit the trails around Galena. With over 20 km of trails open we have something for everyone.

Why not get the New Year off right with a Nordic Ski Lesson from one of our qualified instructors. Either skate skiing or classic skiing, your technique will improve as will your fun level after learning a few tricks of the trade from either Dorothy or John.

New to the area or want to try out snowshoeing? Try a guided snowshoe adventure at Galena. This 2 hour tour can be tailored to your ability and group to make an adventure everyone will enjoy.
