Sun Valley Nordic Festival



The Sun Valley Nordic Festival has begun. The last two days have been an incredible array of activities. The Galena Benefit on Saturday night was a huge success as was the Galena Loppet this morning. We would like to say a gigantic THANK YOU to everyone who has helped to support Galena Lodge and the trails, we couldn't do it with out you.

Tuesday night is the Twilight Ski and Dinner at Galena Lodge. Enjoy a sunset ski or snowshoe and then head into the lodge for a great dinner and live music by Rick Hoel. The dinner menu will feature Lava Lake Lamb stew, buffalo stew, lasagnas, soups, chili, antipasta platter, salads and more. Dinner will be served from 6pm until 8pm. No reservations are necessary.


If you haven't heard about the status of Don's beard you better head up now to see his cleanly shaven face! You won't even recognize him.

The Galena Loppet is Sunday the 30th!

Let the Nordic festival begin!

Our favorite FREE ski event is upon us once again! The Galena Loppet is a non-competitive party on skis that will travel the entire perimeter of the Galena Lodge ski trails - about 25 km. Join us on Sunday, January 30th for a 10am start that will be marked by shooting a rubber chicken. Skiers will enjoy a beer and homemade donuts "feed" station halfway, and as always, costumes are highly encouraged. See you then!

Ski the Boulder Clinic!


Ski from Galena Lodge to the SNRA with instructors and get a shuttle back!

On Saturday, January 22, join Galena Lodge ski instructors to preview the Boulder Mountain Tour race course. We'll leave Galena Lodge at 9:30 am to ski the entire BMT course while discussing skate technique, race strategy, aid stations, and the race start. Participants will ski in groups of similar ability and get a shuttle back up to Galena afterwords! Feel free to join even if you're not planning on racing the BMT. Cost is $30. Red Wines from around the World Wine Dinner




Join us on Saturday, January 15th at 6:30pm for our upcoming Wine Dinner. This 5-course dinner will feature red wines from around the world. These wines have been hand selected by Steve Theis of Tastevin Wine Limited and paired perfectly with the creations of Don Shepler and the Galena Lodge staff. This limited seating event will be one not to miss. Cost for this evening of food and wine is $75 per person not including tax or gratuity. Free Learn to Ski Day and Free Ski Day


Feeling like you need a little help with your Nordic skiing?

This Sunday January 9th is Free Ski Day on the North Valley Trails and Free Learn to Ski Day at Galena Lodge. You can ski all day on all the North Valley Trails for free thanks to the Blaine County Recreation District. No passes are needed!

In conjunction, the Galena Lodge Ski School is hosting Free Ski Clinics. A free Skate Ski Clinic will be held at 1pm and a free Classic Ski Clinic will be held at 2:30pm. These clinics are about 45 minutes and all levels are welcome. Don't worry if you don't have your own gear, you can use ours for free during your clinic or rent some for the whole day for just $10.
