We are located at an altitude of 7300 feet at the base of the Boulder and Smokey Mountains. Our winter season runs from mid November until early April (or as snow levels permit) and our Summer Season runs from mid June until mid September.

Summer Positions
Please submit applications from Jan 1st - June 1st (earlier is better) Youth Adventure Camp Lead Counselor: Galena Lodge is looking for a camp director who is dynamic, responsible, enjoys being outdoors, and has experience working with youth ages 6-12 in a camp environment. Our adventure camp runs from Mid June to Mid August with additional hours for training and end of season cleanup. The camp director must have Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications and Galena Lodge can train for lifeguarding. The director must be able to manage 2-3 other employees as well as up to 26 kids. As a youth camp staff member, you will be spending 8 hours a day, Monday thru Friday, surrounded by energetic and eager 8-12 year olds with one overnight on Thursday. Camp activities that you will be leading with your fellow counselors include whitewater rafting (with a guide), horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, lake kayaking, orienteering and the ideal director candidate will have experience in all of these activities. Camp counselors must demonstrate experience in working with youth and the outdoors, as well as an impeccable background of safety and responsibility. Youth Adventure Camp Staff (3 people): Galena Lodge is looking for adventurous and fun candidates who enjoy working outdoors to become Youth Adventure Camp Counselors. Our adventure camp runs from early June to Mid August with additional hours for training and end of season cleanup. Camp counselors must have Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications and Galena Lodge can train for lifeguarding. Camp activities that you will be leading include whitewater rafting (with a guide), horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, lake kayaking and orienteering. Restaurant Staff: (2-3 people): Galena Lodge is a casual, counter service lunch restaurant. The restaurant staff position includes opening the restaurant for morning coffee and pastries, and working in a fast paced lunch service in addition to some evening and fine dining services. The server position requirements include serving, bartending, taking reservations for dinner and yurt stays, and attentive customer service. Previous serving and customer service experience is preferred, but we will consider providing training for the right enthusiastic candidate. Kitchen Staff: Line cooks (1-2 persons): Line and Banquet style service for lunch and special event dinners. Preferred applicants will have 1 year or more experience. Applicants should be comfortable cooking from scratch, making stocks, soups, simple sauces and working on a hot line and grill. Speed and ability to multi-task is important. Knowledge of proper food handling procedures is a must. This is an excellent place to gain experience in a busy restaurant environment . Kitchen Staff: Baker/prep cook: The baker/prep cook position entails mixing and baking cookies, muffins, breads and other pastries on a daily basis. In addition to daily baking, this position includes assisting in kitchen prep and supporting the line cooks. Galena Lodge baking includes making everything from scratch, learning about high altitude baking and this is a great opportunity to learn and improve skills, as well as be creative. Previous kitchen and/or baking experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right, enthusiastic candidate. Bike Shop Mechanic, Rentals and Sales: (2-3 people): This job is one of the most diverse and exciting jobs at Galena. The position entails having basic skills and knowledge of bike mechanics, math skills, computer knowledge, firewood cutting and moving, wedding setup, bartending, and ice cream scooping are all part of working in our bike shop. The candidate should be able to multi task from a mechanic to food service. The bike shop person will help inform locals and tourists as to how to navigate and enjoy the hiking and biking trails of Galena Lodge and the surrounding area. The bike shop is responsible for maintaining our fleet of rental bikes for adults, youth and kids. We are a small, dynamic team at Galena Lodge and this position may also help out in the restaurant during busy times and is an integral part of our wedding set up and events staff. |

Nordic Ski School Director and Instructors: (2-3 people): This job requires someone with an extensive knowledge of both classic and skate skiing techniques and previous experience teaching Nordic skiing. The applicant must show proficient Nordic skills either through past racing results or references. This position is in charge of ski lessons at Galena and on the North Valley Trail system as well as maintaining the Nordic Ski and snowshoe equipment. This position includes ski shop sales, rentals and waxing as well as daily weather and wax reporting. Other duties may include yurt servicing, snowshoe trail maintenance, fine dining service in the evenings, help orchestrating local ski events at the lodge and helping to shovel snow as needed. Nordic Ski Shop Staff: (1-2 people): We are looking for one to two full time persons to work in the ski shop. This person will be responsible for assisting the ski school with all ski shop duties like renting and waxing skis, packing snowshoe trails, selling and stocking merchandise and more. This job will also include yurt servicing and upkeep and snowshoe trail maintenance as well as snow shoveling and random jobs. |
