The counselors will pick up the kids every morning (except during the overnight on Thursday) at 9:00 AM in the Ketchum YMCA parking lot and drop them off at 4:00 PM at the same location. Masks are required while in the vans. What should I pack for them?
In a backpack: Bathing suit Hat Water bottle*** Lightweight rain jacket Water sandals Small swim towel Sunscreen/lip balm Fleece pullover or sweatshirt Extra pair socks Closed toed shoes for hiking What should they wear?
Please wear comfortable clothes for adventuring; T-shirt, shorts, and lightweight trail shoes with good tread are normally great. However, Look at the weather and send your child prepared (we've been known to have snow during camp). Please mark your child’s items with a name & phone number! We are not responsible for lost or misplaced items but will do our best to ensure that lost items get back to you. Covid Poilcies
Our number one priority is to keep campers and counselors safe and healthy this summer. We therefore plan to continue taking the following COVID precautions (subject to change based on recommendations from the CDC and health department)
1) All campers and counselors will be required to wear a mask while traveling indoors, in vans, and when not able to maintain social distance of 6 feet or more. 2) All campers and counselors will wash hands and use hand sanitizer frequently - including after the bathroom, before and after eating, and when using shared equipment. 3) All campers and counselors will take their temperature answer COVID screening questions each morning. 4) There will be no sharing of personal items such as water bottles, sunscreen, clothing etc. |
What not to bring
Please leave pocket knives, slingshots, BB guns, and any other dangerous items at home. ** NO ELECTRONICS! Please help us encourage kids to experience the outdoors! Toys and electronics may be taken and held until the end of the day. What activities do they do each day?
Monday Low team building elements, Leave No Trace, and hiking Tuesday Mountain bike day! We prefer that your child bring their own bike and helmet if they have them. Wednesday Horseback riding and rock climbing. Thursday Petit lake, capture the flag, and the overnight (overnight is tentative depending on the weather/ covid-19). Friday Whitewater rafting with White Otter! *These days are subject to change and the counselor will keep you informed with any changes. Camp code of ethics
We encourage kids to have fun, respect others, and communicate. We do NOT tolerate swearing, rude, disruptive, or aggressive behavior. If a child continues these behaviors, parents will be contacted and the child may be asked not to participate in the rest of camp. Camp protocol
At Galena, we try to work with our campers to resolve issues as they occur. For instance, if a child uses bad language our counselors will talk to the child, have the child apologize and warn the child if this continues she/he will be asked to leave. Parents are not called at the first sign of trouble because we are not usually in the vicinity of a phone, and because we believe that teaching children to act responsibly in the absence of their guardians is a crucial part of growing up. If the child repeats the behavior- parents will be called as soon as possible and asked to pick up their child. Cancellation Policy
Full refund up to 1 month in advance of the 1st day of camp. $350.00 refund with advanced 3-week notice. $150.00 refund with advanced 1-week notice. No refund within one week of camp unless we are able to rebook your camp spot. **There will be a $25 fee for any cancelations or changes to signups to cover credit card and administration fees.** Can I sign my child up who is barely too old/young for camp?
Please do not do this. It is very important that we stay true to age ranges for the camps We have found that these age ranges work well and kids that are too young or too old can really take away from the experience of the other kids at camp. Please do not falsify campers ages on the kids camp application. If we find that the campers ages are not stated correctly, your camper will be sent home from camp with no refund. |
